GT&J stands for Gargo Time & Jewellery, an independent jewellery business founded by Antoinette Sunet Dreyer.
Antoinette has more than ten years of experience in the jewellery industry and previously worked at NWJ, where she developed deep knowledge of jewellery, customer service and helping people choose pieces that make them feel special.
Like many people, Antoinette's professional journey was affected by the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of allowing those circumstances to end her journey, she decided to start again.
With courage, experience and determination, Antoinette established GT&J in approximately 2022. The business began with humble beginnings — setting up a stall at Welkom Square in the Free State and personally serving customers from the local community.
What started as a small stall has continued to grow through personal service, affordable products and the support of loyal customers. GT&J is now entering a new chapter by making its collection available online with delivery to customers across South Africa.
From Humble Beginnings
to Bigger Dreams
My name is Antoinette Sunet Dreyer, and GT&J is more than just a jewellery business to me. It represents courage, perseverance and the decision to keep moving forward even when life takes an unexpected turn.
I have worked in the jewellery industry for more than ten years, and during that time I developed a true love for helping people find jewellery that makes them feel beautiful, confident and special.
The COVID-19 period brought many changes and challenges into our lives. My journey did not continue in the way I had originally planned, but I made the decision not to give up on the experience, passion and knowledge I had gained.
I had to return to humble beginnings.
I started GT&J by setting up my stall at Welkom Square, displaying my products, speaking directly to customers and rebuilding my journey one sale and one relationship at a time.
Starting again was not always easy, but it reminded me that there is no shame in beginning small. Every successful journey starts somewhere, and sometimes the smallest beginning carries the greatest dream.
As a woman in business, I have learnt to remain strong, adaptable and hopeful. I believe that challenges can either stop us or shape us. I have chosen to allow every challenge to shape me into a stronger woman and a better business owner.
Today, I am grateful that GT&J is growing beyond our local stall. Through our online catalogue and nationwide delivery service, we can now share our affordable jewellery with customers throughout South Africa.
Always remember: starting small does not mean that your dreams are small.
